What Is XEROX-COMMS-CONFIG-TC?

XEROX-COMMS-CONFIG-TC is a Xerox private MIB module that defines shared textual conventions, enumerated types, and object identifiers used by Xerox's companion Communications Configuration MIB (part of the Xerox XCMI management framework) for network printers and multifunction devices. Rather than exposing monitorable instance data itself, it establishes the vocabulary -- data types like communications directory record/attribute types, LAN suite/physical/datalink enumerations, and Ethernet device naming/speed conventions -- that the companion Comms Config MIB uses to describe a device's network stack (LDAP, NetBIOS, IP hostname resolution, Ethernet link parameters, and more). Because it is a textual-conventions module, it does not itself carry live software/hardware status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load; that runtime data lives in the paired Communications Config MIB that imports these types. It is explicitly a support module for the Xerox Communications Config MIB and is not usable standalone. It is typically deployed alongside Xerox network printers/MFPs whose network communications configuration is managed via the XCMI SNMP framework. Engineers can download the XEROX-COMMS-CONFIG-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEROX-COMMS-CONFIG-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

As a textual-conventions module, XEROX-COMMS-CONFIG-TC does not define instantiable, pollable objects with runtime values of its own -- instead it defines the enumerations behind identifiers like xCmCommsDirRecordType, xCmCommsLDAPAttributeType, and xcmCOOsilanEthernetSpeed that the companion Comms Config MIB uses to type its own objects (e.g. representing an Ethernet uplink's negotiated speed or a directory attribute's type). An administrator would not poll this MIB directly for monitoring; instead they would rely on the paired Xerox Communications Config MIB, which uses these conventions to expose values such as xCmSnmpNetbiosAddress or xCmSnmpIPHostnameAddress for the device's network identity.
