Category: Xerox Printer Management

Description: Defines Xerox XCMI textual conventions for product identification codes and device type enumerations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XEROX-PRODUCT-ID-TC?

XEROX-PRODUCT-ID-TC is a Xerox Corporation MIB module that defines textual conventions (TCs) — reusable data type definitions — for identifying Xerox printer and multifunction device product codes, part of the XCMI (Xerox Common Management Interface) architecture. It does not itself expose runtime instrumented objects; instead it supplies shared enumerations and product-ID types that other Xerox device MIBs reference when reporting hardware model/type. As a pure conformance/textual-convention module it carries no counters or state for uptime, temperature, CPU, memory, fans, or software version — those live in the companion instrumentation MIBs that import these TCs. It is explicitly a supporting/dependency module for the larger Xerox XCMI MIB family (print, finisher, paper-path MIBs) rather than a standalone monitoring MIB. It is typically deployed as an imported dependency wherever Xerox printers, copiers, and multifunction devices are managed via SNMP, rather than polled directly. Engineers can download the XEROX-PRODUCT-ID-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEROX-PRODUCT-ID-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Xerox printers and multifunction devices
  • vendor-specific supporting MIB, not directly monitored

Monitoring Examples

Since XEROX-PRODUCT-ID-TC contains no OBJECT-TYPE instances or tables of its own (sample_objects is empty), there is no direct data to poll from this module; it exists purely to define TEXTUAL-CONVENTION types for Xerox product/device-type identifiers used by other MIBs. An admin would never poll this module directly — its types surface only indirectly, e.g. as the data type of a productID object in a Xerox printer MIB. Honestly, no realistic runtime monitoring scenario applies to this conformance-style module.
