Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks System Management

Description: Manages Wellfleet system services configuration including process states and service startup parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-SYS-SVC-MIB?

Wellfleet-SYS-SVC-MIB is a Wellfleet (Bay Networks) enterprise MIB built from the wfNetBootGroup branch of Wellfleet-COMMON-MIB, and despite its 'system services' name the module is entirely about network boot (netboot) configuration rather than process states or service startup parameters. Global scalars enable or disable booting the executable image and the configuration file over the network versus from local storage (wfNetbootImage, wfNetbootConfig) and specify the remote server address and file pathnames (wfNetbootServerAddress, wfNetbootImageName, wfNetbootConfigName); a parallel wfNetbootCurrGroup exposes the values currently latched in non-volatile RAM. Per-interface netboot parameters — IP address/mask, next-hop router, protocol mask, enable/disable, and (for AN-series routers) Token Ring speed or B-channel/DSU-CSU rate — are captured in wfNetbootCfgTable and its current-value counterpart wfNetbootCurrTable, both indexed by slot and connector. So the actual monitoring value here is confirming which image/config file and remote server a given Wellfleet router slot will netboot from, not general service health, and it is deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routing platforms (including AN-series routers), for which the Wellfleet-SYS-SVC-MIB download provides the full object definitions.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-SYS-SVC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet / Bay Networks routers (including AN-series)

Monitoring Examples

An operator compares wfNetbootImageName against wfNetbootImageNameCurr for a given slot/connector to confirm a configuration change to the netboot image path has actually taken effect in NVRAM; a mismatch between the two indicates the new path was set but the router has not yet been rebooted to pick it up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • netboot image/config enable state (configured and current)
  • netboot remote server address
  • netboot image and config file pathnames
  • per-slot/connector netboot IP address and next-hop
  • per-slot/connector netboot enable/disable and link-speed parameters
