What Is Wellfleet-LOADER-MIB?

Wellfleet-LOADER-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Wellfleet Communications/Bay Networks that manages the router's image loader function, covering boot configuration and software image management. It exposes objects for selecting the boot image/source, viewing which software image is currently loaded or slated to load on next boot, and tracking the outcome of image transfer/load operations. It is fundamentally a software-status MIB: administrators use it to confirm which firmware/software version is running or queued, and to detect a failed image download or boot configuration problem before it causes a failed reboot. It has no significant dependency on other MIBs beyond the vendor's own system/chassis management conventions. It is typically used during router firmware upgrade and boot-configuration change operations on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers, and for auditing which software version a deployed router is running. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Wellfleet-LOADER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-LOADER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks router (legacy)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, so this is inferred: an administrator would check the current and next-boot software image objects to confirm a firmware upgrade was staged correctly before rebooting the router. If the loader status objects show a failed or incomplete image transfer, that would explain why the router did not come up on the expected new software version after reboot.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current/next-boot software image version
  • boot configuration source
  • image load/transfer status
  • loader operation success/failure
