Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks System Management
Description: Monitors Wellfleet network interface table entries, operational states, and traffic counters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Wellfleet-IF-MIB?
Wellfleet-IF-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Wellfleet Communications/Bay Networks that monitors the network interface table on its routers, providing per-interface operational state and traffic counters analogous in purpose to the standard IETF IF-MIB. It exposes interface entries describing administrative and operational status, along with counters for packets/bytes in and out and error conditions per interface. It is a core hardware/software status MIB: administrators use it to confirm each interface is administratively up and operationally functioning, and to watch traffic and error counters for signs of a failing link, cabling issue, or misconfigured interface. Because it predates or parallels the standard IF-MIB, it is often used alongside or in place of that standard module on Wellfleet equipment. It is deployed universally on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers, as interface status is a foundational element of monitoring any router deployment. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-IF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Wellfleet/Bay Networks router (legacy)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided, but by direct analogy to the standard IF-MIB, an administrator would poll each interface table entry's operational status and traffic/error counters. An interface whose operational status flips from up to down, or whose error counter climbs while traffic counters stay flat, would indicate a physical link failure or a duplex/speed mismatch on that port.
What Can Be Monitored
- interface administrative/operational status
- interface traffic (packet/byte) counters
- interface error counts
- last-change timestamp per interface
