Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks System Management

Description: Provides Wellfleet SNMP extension objects for enhanced trap generation and management information access.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-SNMPEXT-MIB?

Wellfleet-SNMPEXT-MIB is a Wellfleet router MIB that provides vendor extensions to the router's SNMP agent itself, adding enhanced trap-generation controls and additional access to management information beyond the standard SNMP framework. It exposes configuration objects controlling which traps are generated and how the agent exposes extended MIB data, essentially management-of-management data rather than a specific hardware subsystem. Its monitoring relevance is largely in confirming the software configuration status of the management/trap subsystem - verifying that trap generation is enabled as expected so that other fault conditions elsewhere in the router are properly reported. It functions as an extension layered directly on the standard SNMP/SNMPv2 framework MIBs. It is used in Wellfleet router deployments where administrators need finer control over event notification behavior than the base SNMP agent provides. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-SNMPEXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-SNMPEXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks multiprotocol router

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module; generally an operator would check the trap-generation control objects to confirm extended traps are enabled, since a misconfigured setting here would silently suppress fault notifications from the rest of the device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • extended trap generation configuration
  • SNMP agent extension status
