Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks LAN and Bridging
Description: Manages Wellfleet IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tag configurations, port membership, and frame tagging behavior.

What Is Wellfleet-DOT1QTAG-CONFIG-MIB?
This Wellfleet (Bay Networks) proprietary MIB configures IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging on router/switch ports, exposing per-entry tag configuration that binds a local and global VLAN ID to a physical or virtual port, along with the port's protocol type and enable/delete/disable controls. It is exclusively a configuration MIB, with no traffic counters or hardware telemetry in this table. Monitoring it is useful for verifying software-level VLAN provisioning correctness: confirming a port's VLAN ID mapping and disable/delete flags match the intended configuration, since a wrongly disabled or mismapped VLAN tag entry is a common cause of connectivity loss between VLAN segments. It directly implements the IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging standard. It is deployed on legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers and switches supporting VLAN-tagged trunk links, and the Wellfleet-DOT1QTAG-CONFIG-MIB MIB is what an administrator consults to confirm those per-port VLAN mappings are provisioned correctly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-DOT1QTAG-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Wellfleet/Bay Networks router or switch (legacy)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll wfDot1qTagConfigTable/wfDot1qTagConfigEntry to inspect a given port's wfDot1qTagCfgLocalVlanId, wfDot1qTagCfgGlobalVlanId, and wfDot1qTagCfgVirtualPortType, cross-referencing wfDot1qTagCfgPhysicalPortId to confirm which physical port a VLAN mapping is bound to. If wfDot1qTagCfgDisable is unexpectedly set to true for an entry that should be active, that would explain why tagged traffic for that VLAN is failing to pass across a trunk link.
What Can Be Monitored
- VLAN tag configuration per port
- local/global VLAN ID mapping
- virtual/physical port binding
- VLAN entry enable/disable/delete state
- port protocol type
