What Is WWP-LEOS-VLAN-TAG-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-VLAN-TAG-MIB is a World Wide Packets (later Ciena) LightningEdge/LEOS enterprise MIB that manages VLAN tagging behavior on carrier Ethernet access and aggregation devices, including provider-side S-VLAN and customer-side C-VLAN handling and Q-in-Q service mapping. It exposes both configuration objects for circuit control protocol handling per VLAN and traffic statistics counters tracking non-UNI octets at both the per-circuit and aggregate levels. Its monitoring value is mainly around software/service-level traffic accounting rather than physical hardware health: polling the non-UNI octet counters shows how much traffic is falling outside the expected UNI (user-network interface) profile, which can reveal misconfigured VLAN tagging or unexpected traffic classes traversing a service. It is a WWP/Ciena product-specific MIB with no explicit external MIB dependency called out, standing alongside other LEOS-prefixed MIBs that share the same device platform. It is deployed on WWP/Ciena LightningEdge carrier Ethernet switches used by service providers to deliver Ethernet access services, and a WWP-LEOS-VLAN-TAG-MIB download is a common prerequisite for provisioning per-circuit VLAN tagging monitoring on those platforms.

A service provider engineer verifying a Q-in-Q service would inspect wwpLeosVlanCircuitCtrlProtocolTable to confirm the circuit's tagging/control-protocol handling is set correctly for that customer's S-VLAN/C-VLAN mapping. They would then poll wwpLeosVlanStatsNonUniOctets for that circuit and wwpLeosVlanTotalStatsNonUniOctets at the aggregate level to see whether non-UNI traffic volumes are within expected bounds. An unexpectedly high non-UNI octet count on a specific circuit, visible via wwpLeosVlanCircuitStats, would flag a VLAN tagging misconfiguration or leaking traffic on that service.
