Category: Ciena LEOS Carrier Ethernet
Description: Governs the local user account database on Ciena LEOS devices, including password policies and privilege level assignments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-LEOS-USER-MIB?
WWP-LEOS-USER-MIB is a World Wide Packets (later acquired by Ciena, LEOS operating system) enterprise MIB for managing local user accounts on the device. It exposes configuration-oriented data such as the local user database, password policy settings, and privilege/access level assignments for each account. Its role in device monitoring is administrative rather than hardware-health related: it lets an operator confirm which accounts exist, what privilege level they hold, and whether password policy requirements (such as complexity or aging) are enforced, which is useful for auditing device access control and detecting unauthorized or misconfigured accounts. It is a self-contained, vendor-specific module with no strong dependency on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It is typically deployed on Ciena LEOS-based Ethernet access and aggregation switches where centralized visibility into local login accounts is needed alongside AAA/RADIUS integration. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-USER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-USER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ciena/World Wide Packets LEOS-based Ethernet access switches
Monitoring Examples
No object/table names were provided in the source for this module, so a concrete polling example cannot be grounded in real identifiers; in general terms, an operator would expect a user table keyed by username exposing privilege level and password-policy state, polled to confirm that only authorized accounts with the correct privilege level exist on the device and to detect any unexpected new or elevated accounts.
What Can Be Monitored
- local user accounts
- user privilege/access level
- password policy settings
- account configuration status
