Category: Generic Wireless and Broadband

Description: Manages WiPipe cellular router interface bonding, tunnel status, and WAN link failover configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WIPIPE-MIB?

WIPIPE-MIB is the vendor MIB for WiPipe cellular routers, gateway devices that provide WAN connectivity, interface bonding, and failover over cellular modem links. It exposes objects covering firmware upgrade management, GPIO input/output configuration and readback (used for external alarm or control wiring), and a modem table enumerating attached cellular modems. Its monitoring role centers on device software and hardware status: it reports firmware version and in-progress upgrade status (with URL and status codes), and it lets an operator poll GPIO pins for hardware alarm/contact-closure states as well as enumerate modem instances to check WAN link health across bonded connections. No module description was provided so dependency details are unclear, but it likely relies on standard MIB-II interface objects for the underlying WAN link statistics. It is typically deployed on ruggedized cellular routers used for M2M/IoT WAN failover in retail, industrial, or vehicle telematics settings, and a WIPIPE-MIB download lets administrators load the module into their SNMP management software.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WIPIPE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • WiPipe cellular router
  • M2M/IoT cellular gateway

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll devFWVersion and devFWUpgradeStatus to confirm whether a remote firmware push to a fleet of routers succeeded, using devFWUpgradeURL to verify the correct image source was used. mdmTable/mdmEntry indexed by mdmIndex lets an admin enumerate each cellular modem installed in the router and check its individual link/bonding status against mdmNumber. devGpioReadInput and devGpioReadOutput can be polled to detect an external alarm condition, such as a door contact or power-loss signal wired into the router's GPIO header.

What Can Be Monitored

  • firmware version
  • firmware upgrade status
  • GPIO input/output state
  • modem table entries
  • WAN bonding/tunnel status
