Category: Videoframe Broadcast Monitoring

Description: Monitors Videoframe VM0002 audio/video signal quality and sync on broadcast monitoring frames.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0002-MIB?

VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0002-MIB covers the Videoframe Systems VM0002 Analog Video Monitoring module, a broadcast/production signal-monitoring device that plugs into a monitoring frame. It exposes module identification and status data (slot number, active state, firmware revision) plus per-input analog video signal presence, naming, and description across the module's monitored feeds. Its monitoring purpose is explicitly hardware- and software-status oriented: it reports whether each monitoring module is active, its firmware revision for software-version auditing, and per-signal presence/event traps to catch a lost or degraded video feed. It augments MIB-2, VF-GENERIC, and VF-SIGMON, so those base modules must be present for full identification of the managed device. It is deployed in broadcast/production facilities using Videoframe monitoring frames to watch analog video signal integrity across many input feeds. Engineers can download the VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0002-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0002-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Videoframe Systems VM0002 Analog Video Monitoring module
  • broadcast video monitoring frame/rack system

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll vm0002Table/vm0002Entry indexed by vm0002SlotNumber to check vm0002Active and vm0002FirmwareRev for each installed monitoring module in the frame. The vm0002SignalTable (vm0002SignalEntry, keyed by vm0002SignalSlotNumber and vm0002SignalNumber) exposes vm0002SignalName and vm0002SignalDescription for each monitored analog video input, letting an operator confirm which feeds are patched where. The vm0002AnalogVideoEvents/vm0002AnalogVideoEventsV2 traps would fire to alert on loss of sync or signal dropout on a given input, revealing a failed camera or feed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • module active/slot status
  • firmware revision
  • per-input signal presence
  • signal name/description
  • analog video signal loss events
  • module locate/identify state

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using vm0002Active OID:

Select a Videoframe Systems VM0002 Analog Video Monitoring module, broadcast video monitoring frame/rack system (per-input signal-presence status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type vm0002Active into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. Indicates whether this entry is active (this module is in this slot). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'active', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
