Category: Videoframe Broadcast Monitoring

Description: Monitors Videoframe VM0006 module signal status and fault detection in broadcast environments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0006-MIB?

This is a Videoframe Systems vendor MIB for the VM0006 GPI (General Purpose Interface) module, a broadcast signal-monitoring card that augments MIB-2, the VF-GENERIC MIB, and the VF-SIGMON MIB to identify and manage this specific device within Videoframe's signal monitoring product line. It exposes per-slot hardware inventory (slot number, active/locate status) and per-GPI-signal state data across the module's GPI interface. It is primarily a hardware-status monitoring MIB for broadcast facilities — vm0006Active and vm0006Locate reveal whether a specific rack-mounted module is present/active or has been flagged via its physical locate indicator, while vm0006GPISignalState reports the real-time state of each GPI contact/tally signal used for equipment control or on-air indication. It explicitly depends on and augments MIB-2 (the standard system/interfaces MIB) along with Videoframe's own VF-GENERIC and VF-SIGMON MIBs for shared identification and signal-monitoring conventions. It is typically deployed in broadcast master control rooms or transmission facilities using Videoframe rack-mounted signal monitoring gear with GPI-based tally/control interfacing. Engineers can download the VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0006-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VIDEOFRAME-SIGMON-VM0006-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Videoframe Systems VM0006 GPI interface module (broadcast rack equipment)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll vm0006Table/vm0006Entry indexed by vm0006SlotNumber to confirm a given module is vm0006Active, then walk vm0006GPISignalTable/vm0006GPISignalEntry using vm0006GPISignalNumber to read vm0006GPISignalState for each named GPI contact (identified via vm0006GPISignalName) — an unexpected state change here, combined with vm0006GPIInterfaceEvents notifications, would flag a tally or GPI-triggered event such as an on-air/off-air transition or an external alarm contact closure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • module slot active/locate status
  • GPI signal state per contact
  • GPI interface events
  • GPI signal naming/identification

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using vm0006Active OID:

Select a Videoframe Systems VM0006 GPI interface module, broadcast rack equipment (module active/GPI-signal-state status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type vm0006Active into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. Indicates whether this entry is active (this module is in this slot). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'active', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
