Category: Juniper/Unisphere Broadband

Description: Defines conformance statements for Juniper/Unisphere SNMP agent management on ERX routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Unisphere-Data-SNMP-CONF?

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for the SNMP entity component of the SNMP agent itself, on Juniper (formerly Unisphere) ERX Routing Switch devices. It declares which standard SNMP framework groups (from SNMPv2-MIB, SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB, etc.) the ERX agent supports, rather than exposing configuration or runtime data of its own. It has no direct role in hardware/software health monitoring; it is purely a conformance/compliance declaration for the SNMP management subsystem. It is explicitly dependent on the standard SNMP framework MIBs (SNMPv2-MIB and related IETF SNMP MIBs) whose groups it references. It would be used by MIB tooling and NMS vendors confirming baseline SNMP agent compliance on ERX routers before broader deployment, typically starting with a Unisphere-Data-SNMP-CONF download to compile the module locally.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-SNMP-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper/Unisphere ERX Edge Router
  • ERX Routing Switch family

Monitoring Examples

This module defines no data objects of its own; it only states AGENT-CAPABILITIES support for standard SNMP entity groups such as those in SNMPv2-MIB. It is consulted during MIB compilation or agent capability negotiation, not through live polling. There is no realistic runtime monitoring scenario for this module.

RFC description

Juniper Networks (formerly Unisphere Data) MIB defining SNMP configuration objects and compliance statements for ERX and M-series routers.

Start monitoring Juniper/Unisphere ERX Edge Router, ERX Routing Switch family (SNMP-entity conformance declaration, no data objects) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
