Category: Ubiquoss Enterprise Networking

Description: Manages Ubiquoss MAC address table configuration, aging, and forwarding database entries.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBIQUOSS-MAC-MIB?

This module is part of Ubiquoss's device MIB suite and manages the MAC address table (forwarding database) on Ubiquoss Ethernet/access switches — the data structure that maps learned MAC addresses to switch ports/VLANs for frame forwarding. It exposes configuration and status objects related to MAC address learning and aging, along with the associated notification/conformance framework (notification prefix, notification objects, and compliance/group definitions) for this feature area. Its monitoring relevance is mainly around Layer-2 forwarding software behavior: administrators use it to review or verify the learned MAC address table and aging behavior, and rely on its notifications to be alerted to MAC-table-related events (such as address-table changes or potential MAC-flooding conditions) rather than to check hardware sensors. It shares conventions with the general IETF BRIDGE-MIB's dot1dTpFdbTable concept for MAC forwarding tables, adapted here into Ubiquoss's proprietary enterprise MIB branch, and complements other Ubiquoss MIBs like UBIQUOSS-EPON-PM-GROUP-MIB that use the same port indexing. It is deployed on Ubiquoss Ethernet access/aggregation switches, commonly in PON/FTTH access network deployments, where a UBIQUOSS-MAC-MIB download lets operators wire up MAC-table and flooding alerts.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBIQUOSS-MAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss Ethernet access/aggregation switch

Monitoring Examples

The visible sample objects here (ubiMacMIBNotificationPrefix, ubiMacMIBNotifications, ubiMacMIBConformance, ubiMacMIBCompliances, ubiMacMIBGroups) are the notification and conformance scaffolding for this module; the underlying but unlisted MAC-address-table objects would let an operator review learned MAC-to-port mappings and aging timers, while ubiMacMIBNotifications would alert on events such as an unexpected surge in learned addresses on a port (a common MAC-flooding/loop symptom).

What Can Be Monitored

  • learned MAC address table entries
  • MAC address aging timer
  • MAC-table-related notifications/events
