Category: Ubiquoss Enterprise Networking
Description: Defines Ubiquoss Corp. enterprise OID structure and registration hierarchy for all Ubiquoss MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is UBIQUOSS-SMI?
UBIQUOSS-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module for Ubiquoss Corp. (also referenced historically as LocusNetworks), defining the enterprise OID root and registration hierarchy under which all other Ubiquoss-specific MIBs are organized. It contains no monitorable data objects itself; instead it establishes the naming tree (module identity, enterprise arc) that child MIBs like UBQS-CPU-STATS-MIB or UBQS-SYSLOG-MIB build upon. As a pure structural/naming module it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status, but it underpins every other Ubiquoss MIB that does report such status. It is foundational and depended upon by the entire family of Ubiquoss enterprise MIBs. It is typically loaded first alongside standard SMI modules whenever any Ubiquoss network device MIB is compiled or managed, since the UBIQUOSS-SMI MIB must be present to establish the enterprise OID namespace those modules depend on.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBIQUOSS-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ubiquoss network switch/router (any model)
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only the OID tree structure and contains no runtime data objects or tables to poll, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it exists purely so that other Ubiquoss MIBs can register their object identifiers beneath a consistent enterprise root.
