What Is Telematics-Nevada-MIB?

Telematics-Nevada-MIB (from Telematics Inc.'s 'Nevada' product line) manages device operational parameters and status reporting for network access/routing equipment, exposing detailed node-level buffer, CPU, and packet-rate statistics. Its data centers on internal resource accounting: buffer pool usage (total/current/minimum/free buffers), CPU headroom (current/min/max CPU), and traffic rates (receive/transmit packets per second, average and current). This is a clear hardware/software performance-monitoring MIB: an administrator uses it to watch for buffer exhaustion, CPU starvation, or abnormal packet-rate spikes/drops that indicate the device is overloaded or a link has failed. There is no indication of dependency on other standard MIBs; the objects live under the vendor's own telematics/tmxNevada/nevadaSystem branch. It is typically deployed on Telematics Nevada-series network access or routing devices in carrier or enterprise WAN environments, where a Telematics-Nevada-MIB download provides the object definitions needed to load into a monitoring system or MIB browser.

An administrator would poll nvNodestatFreebufs against nvNodestatTotalbufs to check for buffer exhaustion, and nvNodestatCurmincpu/nvNodestatMincpu against nvNodestatMaxcpu to gauge how close the device is to CPU saturation. Comparing nvNodestatRxcurpps and nvNodestatTxcurpps to their nvNodestatRxavgpps/nvNodestatTxavgpps baselines would reveal a sudden traffic spike or drop, and nvNodestatCurtime provides the timestamp context for the sample.
