Description: Default Throughput Class (deftput) This field sets the initial value to be used for the throughput class for the virtual call if throughput-class negotiation is disabled (thruneg = no) or is not requested.

If throughput-class negotiation is enabled (thruneg = yes), this value is used as a starting point and may be negotiated, with the network, downwards.

Values for throughputclass negotiation requested by components (eg ITI) are preferentially used if throughput-class negotiation is enabled (thruneg = yes) AND if the requested values are less than deftput; in all other cases deftput is used.

.note;Although CCITT defines throughput classes in terms of a guaranteed data-rate,throughput classes are only implemented to the extent of arranging that packets of a higher throughput-class are serviced before those of a lower class. .end note Default value is 10+1.
