Description: Manages Nokia Tropic user accounts, access rights, and authentication for optical transport systems.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TROPIC-USERMGMT-MIB?
TROPIC-USERMGMT-MIB is a Nokia (Tropic Networks) proprietary MIB that manages user accounts, access rights, and authentication settings on optical transport network elements. It exposes configuration data such as user identities, privilege levels, and login/authentication parameters rather than traffic or hardware performance counters. From a monitoring standpoint it is chiefly useful for auditing account status and access control changes on the device software, such as detecting unauthorized account creation, privilege escalation, or failed authentication attempts, rather than reporting hardware health like temperature or power. It works alongside Nokia's other Tropic-series MIBs (such as the L1 service and control-network MIBs) as part of a single element's management model, but has no dependency on standard IETF security MIBs. It is typically deployed on Nokia optical transport network elements managed through a carrier NMS/EMS with centralized user administration. Engineers can download the TROPIC-USERMGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-USERMGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia Tropic optical transport network element
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were supplied for this module, so specific object or table names cannot be cited. In practice such a user-management MIB would expose a user table keyed by username with fields for privilege/role and account status, letting an administrator poll for newly created accounts or accounts left in a locked/disabled state. Without concrete object names in the source data, this remains a general description of the module's likely structure.
What Can Be Monitored
- user account status
- access privilege level
- authentication configuration
