Description: Manages Nokia Tropic OSPF routing protocol configuration and neighbor state in optical transport.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TROPIC-OSPF-MIB?
TROPIC-OSPF-MIB is part of Nokia's Tropic DWDM MIB suite, covering the OSPF routing protocol as used for control-plane signaling within the optical transport network. It exposes OSPF configuration objects and neighbor/adjacency state specific to Nokia's DWDM control plane. Its monitoring role is chiefly software/protocol status: tracking OSPF neighbor and adjacency state reveals whether control-plane connectivity between optical network elements is healthy, which is essential for automated wavelength/path provisioning to function. Notably, it builds on standard OSPF protocol concepts (as in the IETF OSPF-MIB) adapted for use within the optical transport control plane. It is deployed on Nokia DWDM network elements that use OSPF for control-plane routing in service-provider optical backbone networks. Engineers can download the TROPIC-OSPF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) Tropic DWDM optical transport network element
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module. Based on its description as the Nokia DWDM OSPF MIB, an admin would typically poll OSPF neighbor state objects to confirm control-plane adjacencies between network elements remain established, since a neighbor stuck in a non-full state would indicate a control-plane fault that could prevent automated path or wavelength provisioning from completing.
What Can Be Monitored
- OSPF neighbor/adjacency state
- OSPF configuration parameters
- control-plane routing status
