What Is TRANGO-APEX-GIGE-MIB?

TRANGO-APEX-GIGE-MIB is a Trango Systems enterprise MIB for the Apex GigE wireless backhaul radio product line, covering configuration and status of its Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and in-band management (IBM) settings. It exposes both configuration data (IBM enable/IP/VLAN/port/netmask, per-Ethernet-port enable settings) and operational status data (per-port link status, negotiated speed, and duplex mode for its Ethernet ports). Its role in hardware/software status monitoring is direct: gigeEth1Status/gigeEth2Status let an administrator confirm each Ethernet port is up, while gigeEth1Speed/gigeEth2Speed and gigeEth1Duplex reveal whether a link has negotiated correctly, such as catching a duplex mismatch or unexpected speed fallback on a wireless backhaul's wired uplink. It is a vendor-specific companion to the standard IF-MIB rather than a replacement for it, focusing on Trango-specific in-band management and per-port detail. It is deployed on Trango Apex GigE point-to-point/point-to-multipoint wireless backhaul links connecting remote sites or towers back to the core network, monitored through the TRANGO-APEX-GIGE-MIB MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRANGO-APEX-GIGE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Ethernet port link status
  • Ethernet port speed
  • Ethernet port duplex mode
  • in-band management IP/VLAN configuration
  • Ethernet port enable state

Supported Devices

  • Trango Apex GigE wireless backhaul radio

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll gigeEth1Status and gigeEth2Status to confirm both Ethernet ports on the Apex GigE radio are up, then check gigeEth1Speed and gigeEth1Duplex to verify the link negotiated full Gigabit duplex rather than falling back to a lower speed, which would indicate a cabling or interoperability problem on the wireless backhaul's wired side. The gigeIBMEnable, gigeIBMIp, and gigeIBMVlanID objects would be checked together to confirm in-band management is correctly configured so the radio remains reachable over the same link it carries traffic on.
