What Is TR-STNASSIGN-MIB?
TR-STNASSIGN-MIB is a Token Ring station-assignment MIB used to configure and track which network stations are bound to which ring interfaces on legacy Token Ring network equipment. It exposes a table mapping station addresses to ports and rings, along with an interface count, so its data is primarily configuration/topology-oriented rather than performance-counter data. Its monitoring value lies in confirming device configuration state: an operator can use it to verify that expected stations are correctly assigned to the right port and ring, which indirectly reflects the operational health of the Token Ring segment. As a Token Ring-era MIB it builds on IEEE 802.5 Token Ring concepts and is typically deployed alongside standard Token Ring interface MIBs (such as those defined in RFC 1749/802.5 MIBs). It is used on legacy Token Ring hubs, bridges, or concentrators, technology that is now largely obsolete but still found in some older enterprise LANs. Engineers can download the TR-STNASSIGN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
The stnAssignTable/stnAssignTableEntry rows, indexed by stnAssignIndex, record each stnAssignPortAssociation together with its stnAssignPortRing, letting an admin confirm which physical port serves which Token Ring segment. The stnInterfaceCount object gives the total number of ring interfaces on the device, so a mismatch between that count and the number of rows populated in the assignment table would indicate a misconfigured or unrecognized ring interface.
