What Is TR-OPT-MIB?
TR-OPT-MIB is a legacy MIB defining Token Ring protocol option configuration objects, with object naming (cdx6500PCTPortProtocolGroup, cdx6500PSTPortProtocolGroup) tied to the cdx6500-series chassis, a legacy hub/concentrator product line from the Token Ring era. Its categories are limited to protocol-group configuration assigned to individual Token Ring ports rather than a broad set of statistics. Monitoring emphasis is primarily configuration-consistency verification rather than hardware sensors: comparing the protocol group assigned to ports intended to share the same ring segment confirms the ring is configured correctly, since a mismatch would prevent proper ring formation and manifest as a connectivity fault. It builds on the IETF Token Ring MIB standards (RFC 1749 dot5 tables) for base ring statistics, adding this vendor's protocol-group option extensions on top. It's associated with legacy enterprise/campus networks still running Token Ring media on cdx6500-series concentrators, a largely obsolete technology today. Engineers can download the TR-OPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator reads cdx6500PCTPortProtocolGroup and cdx6500PSTPortProtocolGroup per port to confirm which protocol group (PCT or PST) a Token Ring port is assigned to, verifying that ports intended for the same ring segment share a consistent protocol-group setting. A mismatch between two ports expected to be on the same ring would indicate a misconfigured port preventing proper ring formation and explain a reported connectivity failure.
