Description: Manages Transition Networks service provisioning templates and parameter assignment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TN-PROV-MIB?
TN-PROV-MIB is a vendor-specific module from Transition Networks used to manage configuration backup, restore, and provisioning-template operations on the device. Rather than exposing operational performance counters, it centers on a single provisioning table (tnProvTable/tnProvEntry) that lets a manager specify a provisioning type, target address, source/destination filenames, and trigger an operation, then read back the result. Its monitoring role is largely status-of-operation: tnProvOper and tnProvResult let an administrator confirm whether a configuration backup or restore job completed successfully or failed, which is a software/configuration-management health check rather than a hardware sensor reading. It is an enterprise-specific MIB with no apparent formal dependency beyond standard SNMP SMI conventions, though it typically works alongside the vendor's core system and interface MIBs. It is deployed in environments using Transition Networks media-converter or switching equipment where administrators need to remotely push or pull device configuration files via TFTP/FTP-style transfers. Engineers can download the TN-PROV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-PROV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Transition Networks media converter/switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would set tnProvType, tnProvAddrType, tnProvAddr, and tnProvFile to point at a TFTP server and configuration filename, then trigger tnProvOper to start a backup or restore. Polling tnProvResult afterward reveals whether the job succeeded, failed due to an unreachable server, or is still in progress, which is the key operational signal this MIB provides. The tnProvDstFile object lets the operator confirm the exact destination file name used, useful when verifying scripted, unattended configuration-restore jobs across many units.
What Can Be Monitored
- provisioning operation status
- backup/restore result
- provisioning server address
- source and destination file names
- provisioning type
