Description: Manages Nokia carrier Ethernet IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM link monitoring and remote loopback.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB?

TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB is a Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent, 'Tropic'-family) proprietary MIB extending the standard DOT3-OAM-MIB (IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM) with locally-configurable PDU transmit interval and other vendor-specific settings on Nokia 7xxx transport equipment. Its table records PDU transmit interval and multiplier, tunneling behavior, remote-loopback status, hold time, and a companion loopback table reporting local loopback status and peer-change/loop-detected/loop-cleared events. As a configuration/protocol-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm 802.3ah OAM PDU timers and check for detected loopback conditions on a link. It is deployed on Nokia 7xxx transport equipment. Engineers can download the TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia 1830 PSS (Photonic Service Switch) optical transport platform

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks tnDot3OamLoopDetected on a link exhibiting unexpected traffic behavior, since IEEE 802.3ah OAM can detect an accidental physical-layer loopback condition before it disrupts other services.
