Module: TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB

OID (symbolic): TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB::tnDot3OamHoldTime

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.7483.6.1.2.42.1.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The value of tnDot3OamHoldTime specifies the number of seconds the efm-oam protocol should wait after dot3OamOperStatus transitions from 'operational (9)' to a non-operational state before going back to the 'operational (9)' state again. Note that a transition to the 'linkFault (2)' state does not cause tnDot3OamHoldTime to be used if dot3OamOperStatus was previously in the 'operational (9)' state.

What is tnDot3OamHoldTime?

This object sets how many seconds the EFM-OAM protocol waits after dot3OamOperStatus transitions from operational back to a non-operational state before it will allow the status to return to operational again. It acts as a dampening timer to prevent a flapping OAM link from rapidly toggling operational status, though it explicitly does not apply to transitions into the linkFault state from a previously operational state. An admin dealing with a marginal fiber link that briefly drops OAM sync every few minutes might set this object to 30 seconds to require a sustained recovery before the interface is marked operational again.

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TN-DOT3-OAM-MIB::tnDot3OamHoldTime.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.7483.6.1.2.42.1.1.1.6.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> tnDot3OamHoldTime.1
