Category: DSL and xDSL Access

Description: Manages Terawave DSL access IP traffic classification rules and policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TERAWAVE-teraIpClassification-MIB?

TERAWAVE-teraIpClassification-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for the Terawave DSL access platform that manages IP traffic classification rules used to categorize subscriber traffic (e.g., for QoS or policy enforcement). It exposes classification field/type/value definitions along with address and mask ranges, and a separate table binding named classification rules to those field definitions. Its monitoring value is configuration-status oriented: an operator can verify which IP classification rules and address ranges are active on the platform, which indirectly affects QoS/software-level traffic handling rather than reporting hardware component health. It is a self-contained addition to the broader Terawave teraAccess MIB family, working alongside interface/connection MIBs like TERAWAVE-teraCon-MIB that identify the interfaces to which these classification rules apply. It is deployed in DSL access networks where an NMS or provisioning system audits or updates IP traffic classification policy on a Terawave chassis, and the TERAWAVE-teraIpClassification-MIB download is typically obtained together with the rest of the teraAccess MIB family from the platform vendor.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-teraIpClassification-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Terawave teraAccess DSL/ATM access platform

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk teraIpClassTable, inspecting teraIpClassField, teraIpClassType, and teraIpClassValue to see which IP header field (e.g., source address) a given classification entry matches on, alongside teraIpClassMinRange/teraIpClassMaxRange for numeric ranges or teraIpClassIpAddr/teraIpClassMask for subnet-based rules. Cross-referencing teraIpClassificationTable's teraClassificationRule entries confirms which named rule set is bound to a given classification definition. This is used to verify that subscriber traffic is being bucketed into the correct QoS class as configured, rather than to detect hardware faults.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP classification field and match type
  • classification value/range
  • IP address and mask for classification
  • named classification rule bindings
