Category: DSL and xDSL Access, Port and Interface Management

Description: Manages Terawave DSL access DS1 interface configuration, framing, and performance statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TERAWAVE-terads1-MIB?

TERAWAVE-terads1-MIB is a Terawave Communications enterprise MIB for the DS1 (T1) interface cards in its DSL access equipment, covering interface configuration, framing mode, and current-interval performance statistics. It exposes a teradsx1CurrentTable of standard T1-line quality counters — errored seconds, severely errored seconds, severely errored framing seconds, unavailable seconds, controlled slip seconds, path coding violations, and line/bursty errored seconds. Because these counters map directly onto physical-layer health, the MIB is used almost entirely for monitoring hardware status of DS1 circuits: rising errored/severely-errored-second or unavailable-second values signal a degrading or failing T1 line before it drops completely. It mirrors the current/15-minute-interval performance-counter model used by IETF DS1/E1 MIBs (RFC 2495/3895), even though it is implemented as a proprietary enterprise module. It is deployed on Terawave DSL access multiplexers wherever T1 circuits carry backhaul or subscriber access traffic, making TERAWAVE-terads1-MIB SNMP monitoring the standard way to catch line-quality degradation proactively.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-terads1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Terawave DSL access multiplexer
  • T1/DS1 access interface card

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll teradsx1CurrentTable (indexed by teradsx1CurrentIndex) and watch teradsx1CurrentESs and teradsx1CurrentSESs for an upward trend indicating line noise on a specific DS1 circuit. A spike in teradsx1CurrentUASs would flag that a circuit has gone fully unavailable, while teradsx1CurrentCSSs rising would point to clock-slip issues from a timing source mismatch. teradsx1CurrentPCVs and teradsx1CurrentLESs give finer-grained coding-violation detail useful for isolating a marginal repeater or cable segment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • errored seconds (ES)
  • severely errored seconds (SES)
  • severely errored framing seconds (SEFS)
  • unavailable seconds (UAS)
  • controlled slip seconds (CSS)
  • path coding violations / bursty errored seconds
