Category: DSL and xDSL Access, Switch and Bridge Management
Description: Manages Terawave DSL access bridging configuration and spanning tree parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TERAWAVE-terabridge-MIB?
This MIB module manages the bridging and spanning-tree configuration of Terawave DSL access equipment, part of that vendor's DSL access/bridging product line. It exposes Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) status and configuration data - bridge priority, root bridge identification, root port and cost, timers, and topology-change counters - for the device's internal Ethernet bridge. It is used mainly to monitor software/protocol status of the bridging function: whether the device sees itself as root or a designated bridge, how often topology changes occur, and current STP timer settings, which reveal Layer-2 loop or reconvergence problems rather than physical hardware faults. It is explicitly modeled as a vendor extension of the standard IEEE 802.1D bridge MIB (dot1dStp), reusing that object structure under a Terawave-specific tree. It is deployed on Terawave DSL access multiplexers/bridges in carrier or ISP broadband access networks, where TERAWAVE-terabridge-MIB SNMP monitoring of STP state helps detect Layer-2 loop conditions.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-terabridge-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Terawave DSL access bridge
Monitoring Examples
A network engineer would poll teraDot1dStpDesignatedRoot and teraDot1dStpRootCost to confirm which bridge in the network segment has been elected root and how costly the path to it is from this device. teraDot1dStpTopChanges together with teraDot1dStpTimeSinceTopologyChange reveals how frequently the spanning tree has reconverged recently, a strong indicator of an unstable link or a flapping port somewhere in the segment. teraDot1dStpMaxAge and teraDot1dStpHelloTime would be checked to verify the configured STP timers match the rest of the network's design, avoiding premature topology-change detection.
What Can Be Monitored
- spanning tree root bridge/cost
- topology change count and timing
- STP priority and timers
- bridge port role
