What Is TERAWAVE-teraWlinkAtm-MIB?

TERAWAVE-teraWlinkAtm-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Terawave Communications for managing the ATM layer of its DSL-based wireless/broadband access link products (teraWave line). It exposes ATM cell-layer performance and error counters for each configured link, tracked per teraWlinkAtmEntry indexed by teraWlinkAtmIndex. Key monitoring data includes cell-level fault and quality indicators -- cell drops, misinserted cells, and F4/F5 OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) segment and end-to-end cell counts and misinserted OAM cells -- which together reveal ATM link integrity problems such as cell loss, synchronization errors, or OAM signaling faults on the physical DSL/ATM connection. It builds on standard ATM Forum UTOPIA interface and F4/F5 OAM concepts rather than a formal IETF MIB. It would typically be deployed by carriers/ISPs operating Terawave DSL access multiplexers or wireless access link equipment to assure ATM transport quality to subscribers. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TERAWAVE-teraWlinkAtm-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-teraWlinkAtm-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Terawave DSL access/wireless link equipment (teraWave product line)

Monitoring Examples

An operator monitoring teraWlinkAtmEntry for a given teraWlinkAtmIndex would watch uTOPIACellDrops and misinsertedCells for a rising trend, indicating ATM cell-layer errors on that DSL/wireless link; a spike in f4SegCells/f4EndToEndCells or f5SegCells/f5EndToEndCells alongside misinsertedOAMCells would point to OAM signaling or path continuity problems needing investigation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM cell drops
  • misinserted cells
  • F4 OAM segment/end-to-end cell counts
  • F5 OAM segment/end-to-end cell counts
  • misinserted OAM cells
