Description: Manages ATM interface configuration and statistics specific to the FreeBSD bsnmpd ATM driver.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BEGEMOT-ATM-FREEBSD-MIB?
BEGEMOT-ATM-FREEBSD-MIB is part of the Begemot family of MIBs implemented by FreeBSD's bsnmpd SNMP agent, covering ATM interfaces specific to FreeBSD's Netgraph-based ATM networking stack. It exposes a table mapping each ATM interface to the underlying Netgraph node identifier that implements it, along with related grouping objects. Monitoring here is about interface-to-driver-instance correspondence rather than rich traffic counters: it lets an operator confirm that an ATM network interface is correctly represented and bound within the FreeBSD kernel's Netgraph framework, a software-level health check for the driver. It complements the standard IF-MIB for the ATM interfaces it describes and is specific to the FreeBSD bsnmpd agent implementation. It is deployed on FreeBSD-based routers or servers using ATM network adapters, a largely niche or legacy use case today. Engineers can download the BEGEMOT-ATM-FREEBSD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BEGEMOT-ATM-FREEBSD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- FreeBSD servers/routers with ATM network adapters
Monitoring Examples
An administrator queries begemotAtmNgIfTable/begemotAtmNgIfEntry to look up begemotAtmNgIfNodeId for a given ATM interface index, confirming the interface is properly bound to its Netgraph node. A missing or unexpected entry here would indicate the ATM driver failed to attach its Netgraph node correctly, breaking SNMP visibility or forwarding for that interface.
What Can Be Monitored
- ATM interface to Netgraph node mapping
- ATM interface presence
