Description: Manages Terawave DSL access threshold crossing alert configuration and notification.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TERAWAVE-teratca-MIB?
TERAWAVE-teratca-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for the Terawave teraAccess platform implementing Threshold Crossing Alert (TCA) configuration, a standard telecom performance-monitoring pattern where a monitored variable is compared against rising/falling thresholds over an interval and an event is raised on crossing. It exposes a TCA table binding a monitored variable, interval length, and rising/falling threshold values, plus references to the events to fire when each threshold is crossed. Its monitoring value is in proactive performance-fault detection: rather than reporting hardware sensors directly, it lets an operator configure which performance counters (e.g., DS3 error rates) should generate a notification when they cross a defined severity boundary, effectively an alarm-management layer over the platform's other performance MIBs. It is designed to work in conjunction with other Terawave MIBs such as TERAWAVE-teraU-ds3-MIB, whose counters are the likely subjects of teraTcaVariable references. It is used in DSL/ATM access deployments where an NMS both configures TCA rules and consumes the resulting rising/falling threshold trap notifications. Engineers can download the TERAWAVE-teratca-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-teratca-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Terawave teraAccess DSL/ATM access platform
Monitoring Examples
An operator would populate teraTcaTable entries via teraTcaVariable to name the monitored counter (e.g., a DS3 error count), teraTcaRisingThreshold/teraTcaFallingThreshold to set the alarm boundaries, and teraTcaIntervalSec to define the sampling window. When the monitored value exceeds teraTcaRisingThreshold within the configured teraTcaInterval, a teraTcaRisingEvent notification fires, alerting the NMS to a developing performance problem before it becomes a hard fault. teraTcaFallingEvent similarly signals recovery once the value drops back below the falling threshold.
What Can Be Monitored
- threshold-monitored performance variable
- rising/falling threshold values
- monitoring interval length
- threshold-crossing alert events
