Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router UDP6 (UDPv6) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-UDP6-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-UDP6-MIB is a Teldat, S.A. vendor-specific MIB defining SNMP notifications generated by the UDPv6 event subsystem on Teldat routers. It defines nine OBJECT-IDENTITY event groups (udp6EventObjects1 through 9), each paired with parameter objects — source/destination IPv6 addresses, port numbers, packet length, and checksum values — and a matching NOTIFICATION-TYPE (udp6Notification1-9) covering conditions such as a UDPv6 packet beginning processing, being discarded for bad length or zero/incorrect checksum, arriving on an internally reserved or unregistered port, or being dropped by a registered port's upcall handler. It exposes purely event/trap data rather than polled counters or tables, giving operators visibility into UDPv6-layer packet-processing anomalies as they occur rather than after the fact. It depends on TELDAT-MIB for the telEventTraps OID root shared across Teldat's family of per-subsystem event MIBs. It is deployed on Teldat routers running IPv6 with UDP traffic, and administrators referencing the TELDAT-TRAP-UDP6-MIB MIB configure their trap receivers to subscribe to these UDPv6 event notifications.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-UDP6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers (S.A.)

Monitoring Examples

An operator subscribes to udp6Notification4 to catch UDPv6 packets discarded due to checksum mismatch (udp64-checksum) and udp6Notification2 for bad-length discards; a burst of these traps from the same source IPv6 address would indicate a misbehaving or malicious IPv6 host sending malformed UDP traffic to the router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • UDPv6 packet-processing start events
  • checksum-failure discard events (zero/incorrect)
  • bad-length packet discard events
  • unregistered/reserved destination port discard events
  • per-event source/destination address and port parameters
