Description: Defines Teldat router ASYN (async serial) interface event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-ASYN-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-ASYN-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Teldat, a manufacturer of enterprise routers and access equipment, focused on the ASYN (asynchronous serial) interface subsystem. It exposes trap/notification definitions rather than a broad tree of polled counters, covering per-line identifiers such as asyn1 through asyn5 interfaces and their frame-size parameters. Its primary monitoring value is fault and event detection: it lets a management station react in near real time to ASYN line state changes, frame-size mismatches, or other async serial interface events on the router, which is useful for spotting flapping or misconfigured serial links. As a Teldat proprietary MIB it typically works alongside standard IF-MIB interface objects and RFC 1213-style system MIBs for baseline context, since it only supplies the event layer. It is typically deployed where Teldat routers provide legacy async serial connectivity (e.g., modem or console backhaul links) and an NMS needs trap-driven alerting on those ports. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-ASYN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-ASYN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router
- Teldat access/CPE gateway with async serial interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An NMS configured to receive Teldat asynNotifications would watch objects like asyn3-interface and asyn3-frame-size, asyn4-interface and asyn4-frame-size, and asyn5-interface and asyn5-frame-size to correlate which physical async port triggered an event and what frame-size value was in effect at the time. If asyn2-interface reports a state-change trap alongside an unexpected frame-size value, an admin can infer a cabling or configuration mismatch on that serial link. Because the MIB is trap-oriented, there is little continuous polling; the objects mainly serve as varbinds attached to the asynNotifications sent from the asynEventsGroup.
What Can Be Monitored
- ASYN interface link state (per port, asyn1-asyn5)
- ASYN frame size per interface
- async event/trap occurrence
- async interface identification

RFC description
Manages ASYN event subsystem notifications and trap handling for Teldat network devices.
Start monitoring Teldat router/access-CPE gateway with async serial interfaces (ASYN line-state event traps) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
