What Is TELDAT-MON-INTERF-SWITCH-MIB?
TELDAT-MON-INTERF-SWITCH-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Teldat covering the integrated Layer-2 switch module found on certain Teldat router platforms, exposing per-port status and traffic data for the embedded switch. It provides a switch port table describing each port's index, speed, and layer-2 traffic and error/discard counters. Its monitoring purpose is hardware/interface performance and fault status: administrators use it to check port link speed, outbound/broadcast traffic volume, and incoming/outgoing discarded packets or errors to detect cabling problems, port misconfiguration, or broadcast storms on the integrated switch. It complements the standard IF-MIB (interface index correlation via teldatSwitchInterfaceIndex) since the switch ports sit logically beneath a router interface. It is typically deployed on Teldat branch-office routers that include a built-in Ethernet switch for LAN connectivity, and administrators managing these routers typically perform a TELDAT-MON-INTERF-SWITCH-MIB download to load the module into their SNMP monitoring tools.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-MON-INTERF-SWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat enterprise/branch routers with integrated Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll teldatSwitchPortTable / teldatSwitchPortEntry keyed by teldatSwitchInterfaceIndex and teldatSwitchPortIndex to check teldatSwitchPortSpeed against the expected link speed, and to compare teldatSwitchOutTraffic and teldatSwitchOutBroadTraffic against teldatSwitchOutErrors, teldatSwitchOutDisPkts, and teldatSwitchInDisPkts -- a spike in discarded packets or errors on one port while traffic volume is otherwise normal points to a faulty cable, duplex mismatch, or oversubscribed port.
What Can Be Monitored
- port link speed
- outbound traffic and broadcast traffic volume
- inbound/outbound discarded packets
- outbound errors
