Description: Defines Teldat router IPSF (IP security forwarding) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-IPSF-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-IPSF-MIB is a vendor-specific, notification-only SNMP module for Teldat routers, defining SNMP traps generated by the router's IPSF (IP Security Forwarding) event subsystem. Rather than modeling polled data objects, it defines a series of numbered trap types (ipsf1 through at least ipsf11), each carrying a message and, for at least one, an event-level and peer-ID field, used to asynchronously notify a management station of IPsec/security-forwarding events as they occur. Its monitoring value is therefore fault/event-driven rather than counter-based -- these traps would reveal IPsec tunnel/peer state changes or security-policy forwarding errors on the router in near real time, functioning as a software-level security/forwarding health signal rather than hardware telemetry. It depends on Teldat's broader router enterprise MIB tree for context, since the traps here are largely self-describing message strings. It is deployed on Teldat routers running IPsec/security-forwarding features in enterprise or carrier WAN environments, and a TELDAT-TRAP-IPSF-MIB download provides the trap definitions needed to decode these notifications in a MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-IPSF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only outbound trap notifications (ipsf1-message through ipsf11-message/ipsf11-peerID) rather than pollable data tables, so there is no polling scenario to describe; instead, a NOC would configure its trap receiver to catch ipsfNotifications and use ipsf10-event-level to prioritize severity and ipsf11-peerID to identify which IPsec peer triggered a given security-forwarding event, such as a failed tunnel renegotiation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPsec/security-forwarding event notifications
  • event severity level
  • IPsec peer identity associated with an event
