Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications
Description: Defines Teldat router RIP (Routing Information Protocol) event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-RIP-MIB?
The TELDAT-TRAP-RIP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP notification module for Teldat routers' RIP (Routing Information Protocol) subsystem, defining traps for RIP protocol events. It exposes RIP version number, source IP address of the sending router, RIP command code, and destination network/next-hop details for route updates. Its monitoring purpose is software-level visibility into RIP routing behavior — flagging unexpected RIP versions, malformed updates, or specific route announcements — helping detect misconfigured RIP neighbors or routing anomalies on the network. It parallels the standard RIPv2-MIB's protocol model but is implemented as Teldat's own enterprise trap set. It is deployed on Teldat routers running RIP, typically in smaller or legacy networks, to alert on RIP protocol irregularities. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-RIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-RIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router (RIP routing protocol)
Monitoring Examples
A trap with rip1-version-number and rip1-source-IP-address flags an unexpected RIP version being received from a given neighbor, while rip6-command-code and rip6-source-IP-address identify which RIP command (e.g. request/response) triggered the event. rip8-destination-IP-network and rip8-next-hop-IP-address surface a specific route announcement, useful for tracing an unexpected or incorrect route being advertised into the network.
What Can Be Monitored
- RIP version number
- source IP address of RIP neighbor
- RIP command code
- advertised destination network
- next-hop IP address
