What Is TELDAT-TRAP-X28-MIB?

This is a vendor-specific MIB from Teldat, a Spanish networking equipment maker, defining SNMP trap notifications for the X.28 subsystem — the terminal-access protocol used with X.25 packet-switched networks — on Teldat routers. Rather than exposing pollable status tables, it is a notifications-only module that fires event traps carrying interface identifiers, message length, state, message type, and raw hex payload data for X.28 sessions. Its practical monitoring value is almost entirely fault/event-oriented: it lets an operator detect X.28 interface state changes, session establishment/teardown, and abnormal or malformed X.28 messages as they occur on the router's legacy serial/X.25 interfaces. It depends on the Teldat enterprise MIB tree and standard SNMPv2-TC notification mechanisms for trap delivery. It is deployed in legacy telecom/WAN environments where Teldat routers still bridge X.25/X.28 terminal traffic into modern IP networks, keeping TELDAT-TRAP-X28-MIB SNMP monitoring relevant for operators maintaining these legacy links.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-X28-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (X.25/X.28 WAN interface)

Monitoring Examples

A NOC would configure its trap receiver to catch x281-state and x282-state notifications carrying x281-interface and x282-interface to see which serial interface transitioned, while x283-message-type and x284-interface traps flag protocol-level X.28 events; x281-hex-data and x282-hex-data give the raw payload for troubleshooting malformed frames. Because this MIB is essentially all traps rather than a polled data model, there is no steady-state counter to sample — it is reactive rather than proactive monitoring.

What Can Be Monitored

  • X.28 interface state changes
  • X.28 session events
  • message type/length of X.28 traffic
  • raw hex payload of X.28 events
