Category: Remote Access and Serial WAN, Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router IPX protocol event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-IPX-MIB?

The TELDAT-TRAP-IPX-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP notification module for Teldat routers' legacy Novell IPX protocol subsystem, defining traps for IPX packet/routing events. It exposes source and destination IPX network/node addresses, interface identifiers, and error type codes tied to specific IPX events rather than ongoing traffic counters. Its monitoring role is narrowly focused on the software status of IPX routing/forwarding — flagging address errors or unexpected source/destination network-node pairs on a given interface — relevant mainly to legacy Novell NetWare-integrated WANs. As IPX is a largely obsolete protocol, this module has no dependency on modern IETF MIBs and instead reflects Teldat's own historical IPX implementation. It would be deployed only on older Teldat router installations still carrying legacy IPX traffic, now increasingly rare, with the TELDAT-TRAP-IPX-MIB MIB remaining the reference for interpreting those routers' IPX trap events.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-IPX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (legacy IPX-routing installation)

Monitoring Examples

A trap containing ipx1-source-net/ipx1-source-node and ipx1-dest-net/ipx1-dest-node identifies the exact IPX network and node addresses involved in a flagged event, while ipx2-interface pinpoints which router interface saw it. ipx4-error-type gives the specific error classification for troubleshooting IPX forwarding problems on legacy NetWare-connected links.

What Can Be Monitored

  • source/destination IPX network address
  • source/destination IPX node address
  • affected interface
  • IPX error type
