Description: Defines Teldat router ETH (Ethernet) interface event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-ETH-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-ETH-MIB is a Teldat proprietary, notification-only SNMP MIB that defines the trap varbinds emitted by the router's Ethernet (ETH) interface event subsystem. It groups numbered event definitions (eth1 through eth3, under ethEventsGroup/ethNotifications) carrying packet type, source and destination Ethernet (MAC) addresses, the affected interface, and, for one event, both an actual and a claimed frame length. Operationally it is a fault/event monitor for the Ethernet link layer: it lets a management station learn asynchronously about anomalous frames on a given interface, including length-mismatch conditions (eth3-actual-length vs eth3-claimed-length) that typically indicate a malformed frame, a faulty NIC/cable, or a misbehaving neighboring device. As with Teldat's other TRAP-* modules it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC notification conventions and Teldat's private enterprise OID tree, complementing standard IF-MIB interface error counters. It is deployed on Teldat routers where Ethernet-layer frame anomalies need to be surfaced for physical-layer or cabling diagnostics. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TELDAT-TRAP-ETH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-ETH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only notification objects and their varbinds rather than a polled counter table, so there is no GET-based monitoring scenario; it is trap-only. An SNMP trap receiver would inspect eth3-actual-length against eth3-claimed-length together with eth3-source-Ethernet-address/eth3-destination-Ethernet-address and eth3-interface to pinpoint which interface and MAC pair generated a length-mismatched frame, pointing toward a cabling or NIC fault on that segment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Ethernet frame type/source/destination MAC events per interface
  • Ethernet frame length-mismatch fault events
