gwNotification35

Module: TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB

OID (symbolic): TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB::gwNotification35

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2007.1.4.1.2.0.35

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: Notification of Event GW.35

Message: 'Net down transmitting to host $1 interface $2'

Parameters list: $1: gw35-next-hop-host $2: gw35-interface

When the router went to send a packet to a given host, the network interface it had been told to send the packet over to was not up. The output discard counter for that interface was incremented, and the packet was returned to the protocol forwarder for attention. Usually, next-hop-host will be the MAC layer address of the next hop router or host that this packet is being sent to. The format of this MAC address depends on the network type. If next-hop-host starts with an @ (at-sign), then that network does not provide a formatted display of MAC addresses, and the following number is the hex address in router memory that the next hop host address is stored at.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB::gwNotification35
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2007.1.4.1.2.0.35

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:52006->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (97301798) 11 days, 6:16:57.98
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB::gwNotification35
