What Is TELDAT-TRAP-ARP-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-ARP-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB that defines SNMP notification objects generated by the ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) event subsystem on Teldat routers. Rather than exposing a polled data model, it defines a family of numbered ARP event traps (arp1 through arp5 and beyond) each carrying varbinds such as interface index, ARP operation type, hardware type, and protocol type. It is used purely for fault/event monitoring, alerting operators in real time to ARP-layer anomalies such as resolution failures, conflicts, or unusual ARP activity on a given interface, rather than continuously polled hardware metrics like CPU or temperature. It depends on the standard ARP model (RFC 826) for its protocol/hardware type semantics and on Teldat's own enterprise notification-prefix conventions (arpNotificationsPrefix) for OID structure. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers where network operations centers want proactive, trap-driven alerting on ARP-layer network events rather than relying solely on periodic polling. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-ARP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Rather than a polling scenario, this MIB is trap-driven: when a Teldat router detects an ARP event it emits a notification carrying values such as arp2-interface, arp2-operation-type, arp2-hardware-type, and arp2-protocol-type, letting an NMS log exactly which interface and ARP operation triggered the event. Repeated traps referencing the same arp*-interface value would point an admin to a specific link experiencing recurring ARP resolution problems, such as an IP address conflict or a misbehaving neighbor device.
