Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router PHYS (physical layer) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-PHYS-MIB?

The TELDAT-TRAP-PHYS-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP notification module for the generic physical-layer subsystem on Teldat routers, defining traps for physical interface state changes and processing/request errors not tied to a specific line type like G.703 or ISDN. It exposes interface state, processing/request information, an interface identifier, and free-text error messages for each event. Its monitoring purpose is detecting hardware/physical-link status changes across the router's general physical interfaces — such as a link transitioning state or a physical-layer error being reported — serving as a catch-all fault channel for physical interface hardware issues. It complements Teldat's other interface-specific trap MIBs (ASL, G.703, ISDN) at a more generic level and likely shares the underlying interface indexing used across them. It is deployed on Teldat routers to give operators a unified alert channel for physical interface faults across mixed interface types. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TELDAT-TRAP-PHYS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-PHYS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (generic physical interface)

Monitoring Examples

A trap with phys1-state and phys1-interface reports a state transition on a specific physical interface, while phys4-error-text and phys4-interface deliver a free-text description of a physical-layer error on that same interface. phys2-proccessing-info and phys3-request-info provide additional diagnostic context about what processing or request was underway when the event occurred.

What Can Be Monitored

  • physical interface state
  • physical-layer error text
  • affected interface identifier
  • processing/request diagnostic info
