Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-CDP-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-CDP-MIB is a Teldat proprietary, notification-only SNMP MIB that defines the trap varbinds emitted by the router's CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) event subsystem, used for interoperability with neighboring Cisco-capable devices. It groups numbered event definitions (cdp1 through cdp6, under cdpEventsGroup/cdpNotifications) that carry the affected interface and, for at least one event type, an error string (cdp5-error-string). Operationally it is a fault/event monitor for neighbor discovery: it lets a management station learn asynchronously when CDP neighbor state changes or a CDP protocol error occurs on a given interface, serving as a software/protocol-health signal for topology-discovery correctness rather than a polled interface counter. As with Teldat's other TRAP-* modules it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC notification conventions and Teldat's private enterprise OID tree, and complements CDP-neighbor information the router may expose elsewhere. It is deployed on Teldat routers operating in mixed-vendor networks where CDP neighbor visibility supports topology mapping and cabling verification. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-CDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-CDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only notification objects and their varbinds rather than a polled neighbor table, so there is no GET-based monitoring scenario; it is trap-only. An SNMP trap receiver would inspect cdp1-interface through cdp6-interface to identify which local interface generated a given CDP event, and cdp5-error-string specifically to see the description of a CDP protocol error detected on that interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CDP neighbor discovery events per interface
  • CDP protocol error conditions
