What Is TELDAT-TRAP-MGCP-MIB?

This Teldat-proprietary MIB defines SNMP trap notifications emitted by the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) subsystem on Teldat routers used as VoIP media gateways. It exposes event-driven data covering errors, informational messages, warnings, and protocol traces tied to specific MGCP endpoints, plus endpoint state and function/method details. It is a software-status monitoring tool for the router's VoIP signaling stack: it lets administrators detect endpoint failures, protocol errors, or unexpected state changes in real time via traps rather than periodic counter polling. It complements, without formally depending on, the IETF MGCP specification (RFC 3435), representing that protocol's runtime events in Teldat's proprietary trap format. It is deployed on Teldat routers functioning as VoIP gateways or media gateway controllers in enterprise or carrier voice networks. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-MGCP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

A voice-network operator would monitor mgcp1-error traps together with the associated mgcp1-endpoint varbind to pinpoint which MGCP endpoint (e.g., an FXS/FXO port) triggered a signaling error. mgcp5-state and mgcp5-endpoint reveal endpoint state transitions, useful for detecting a phone port stuck in an unexpected state, while mgcp6-function and mgcp6-method capture which MGCP command was involved. Because delivery is trap-based, a management station would correlate mgcpNotifications events by endpoint to build a timeline of call-control problems on a given gateway.
