Category: SCADA and Industrial Protocols, Teldat Router Management
Description: Monitors Teldat router IEC-104 gateway protocol session status, ASDU statistics, and SCADA connection health.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-MON-PROTOCOL-GW104-MIB?
This MIB module belongs to Teldat's monitoring family and covers the router's built-in IEC 60870-5-104 gateway feature, used to relay SCADA telemetry between remote terminal units and control centers over TCP/IP. It exposes protocol-level session data, including global open/close-session counts, byte and packet counters for received and transmitted traffic, and a per-agent status table identifying each configured IEC-104 agent. It is primarily a software/protocol health monitor: administrators use it to confirm the gateway process's overall operational status and see whether SCADA sessions are being closed locally or remotely, which can reveal communication faults on critical infrastructure links. As an IEC-104 gateway it depends conceptually on the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol standard, even though the MIB itself is a Teldat-proprietary SNMP representation of that protocol's state. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers used as protocol gateways in utility, energy, and industrial SCADA networks. Engineers can download the TELDAT-MON-PROTOCOL-GW104-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-MON-PROTOCOL-GW104-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router (IEC-104 SCADA gateway)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll telProdNpMonProtGW104GlobalStatus alongside telProdNpMonProtGW104GlobalOpenSes to confirm the gateway is operational and how many IEC-104 sessions are currently open, while telProdNpMonProtGW104GlobalRemClose and telProdNpMonProtGW104GlobalLocClose reveal whether sessions are being torn down by the remote SCADA master or by the local gateway itself. Rx/Tx byte and packet counters (telProdNpMonProtGW104GlobalRxBytes/RxPkts, TxBytes/TxPkts) let an admin baseline normal ASDU traffic volume and spot a stalled link when counters stop incrementing. The telProdNpMonProtGW104AgentInfoTable, indexed by telProdNpMonProtGW104AgentInfoIndex, lets an operator enumerate each configured IEC-104 agent by telProdNpMonProtGW104AgentInfoName to isolate which specific SCADA endpoint is affected.
What Can Be Monitored
- IEC-104 gateway global status
- open/closed session counts
- remote vs. local session closures
- RX/TX byte and packet counters
- per-agent connection info
