What Is TELDAT-TRAP-HDLC-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-HDLC-MIB is a Teldat, S.A. vendor-specific MIB that defines the parameter objects and NOTIFICATION-TYPE definitions for SNMP traps generated by the HDLC event subsystem on Teldat routers. It models fifteen distinct HDLC events (hdlcEventObjects1 through hdlcEventObjects15) — frame transmission/reception, keepalive state changes and sequence mismatches (hdlc4-myseq/hdlc4-mineseen/hdlc4-yoursseen), invalid control-packet length or address, unsupported protocol, FSM state transitions (hdlc13-old-state/hdlc13-new-state), and debug indications — each carrying interface-name and event-specific parameter objects surfaced via corresponding hdlcNotification1 through hdlcNotification15 traps. This makes it useful for monitoring the health of HDLC WAN links in near real time, since keepalive timing drift, frame errors, and link state transitions are signaled directly by specific trap OIDs rather than requiring counter polling. It depends on the parent TELDAT-MIB (telEventTraps) for its OID placement and on SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC conventions, and network teams managing Teldat routers can reference the TELDAT-TRAP-HDLC-MIB MIB to map incoming trap OIDs to their HDLC event meanings.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-HDLC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat S.A. routers (HDLC-capable WAN interfaces)

Monitoring Examples

An operator's trap receiver captures hdlcNotification6 and inspects hdlc6-expected versus hdlc6-meassured alongside hdlc6-ifc-name; a persistent keepalive time mismatch on a given interface would indicate clocking drift or a flapping HDLC link between two Teldat routers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • HDLC frame transmit/receive event notifications
  • keepalive state-change and sequence-mismatch traps
  • invalid control-packet length/address traps
  • unsupported protocol trap
  • HDLC FSM state-transition trap
  • per-event interface name parameter
