Description: Manages Symmetricom NTP client configuration, server associations, and synchronization state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SYMMNTPCLIENT?

SYMMNTPCLIENT is a Symmetricom proprietary MIB (built on SYMM-COMMON-SMI) for the NTP client function on Symmetricom timing equipment, split into status and configuration nodes. Its status objects report current time offset from the NTP server, last-update time, sync status, server IP and its leap-indicator/stratum/reference-ID, and a per-server IP-address table, while its configuration objects set client enable state, sync-on-boot behavior, and poll interval. As a hardware/software-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm the device's NTP client is synchronized (checking offset and stratum) to the expected reference server. It is deployed on Symmetricom timing equipment. Engineers can download the SYMMNTPCLIENT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SYMMNTPCLIENT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Symmetricom timing equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ntpcTimeOffset and ntpcServerStratum to confirm a Symmetricom device's NTP client is tightly synchronized to a low-stratum reference server before relying on it as a timing source.

What Can Be Monitored
