Category: Lucent Technologies, Traps / Notifications

Description: Defines trap notifications for Lucent SPINS interface fault conditions and threshold crossings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SPINS-TRAP-MIB?

SPINS-TRAP-MIB is a Lucent Technologies proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 1751) defining trap objects for SPINS (a Lucent switching/signaling protocol implementation) socket-connection and LLC-node registration errors. Its objects cover SMBI socket-connection error/open events, SBI socket-connection-lost events, switch-registration error/success events, and add-LLC-node error/success events. As a notification MIB it lets an administrator get alerted when a SPINS-managed switch fails to register or loses a socket connection to its signaling peer. It is deployed on Lucent Technologies switching/signaling equipment running SPINS. Engineers can download the SPINS-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SPINS-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent Technologies switching/signaling equipment (SPINS)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator investigates a spinsSwitchRegnError trap to diagnose why a switch failed to register with its SPINS signaling peer on Lucent equipment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SPINS socket-connection and switch-registration error events
