What Is SONUS-H323-SIGNALLING-MIB?
SONUS-H323-SIGNALLING-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Sonus Networks covering the H.323 VoIP call-signaling subsystem on its softswitch platforms. It exposes protocol timer configuration (T301, T303, T310, TCP connect timeout) and the IP address/port/shelf/slot assignment of the H.225 and H.245 signaling channels used to set up and control calls. Its monitoring value is primarily software/protocol-stack status: timer values and port bindings reveal whether the H.323 stack is configured to establish calls promptly, and a misconfigured or unreachable H.225/H.245 port indicates a signaling failure that would block call setup entirely. It sits alongside SONUS-SIP-SIGNALLING-MIB as an alternative signaling protocol module under the shared Sonus MIB tree, both feeding the same underlying call-processing engine. It is deployed on Sonus GSX9000-class softswitches interworking with H.323-based VoIP networks (e.g. legacy IP-PBX or gatekeeper-based deployments). Engineers can download the SONUS-H323-SIGNALLING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SONUS-H323-SIGNALLING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ribbon Communications (formerly Sonus Networks) GSX9000 series softswitch/media gateway
Monitoring Examples
A voice engineer would check sonusH323H225PortIpAddress, sonusH323H225PortNum, sonusH323H225PortShelfId, and sonusH323H225PortSlotNum to confirm the H.225 call-signaling channel is bound to the expected IP and hardware slot, and would similarly verify sonusH323H245PortIpAddress for the H.245 control channel. sonusH323SigSrvTimerT303 and sonusH323SigTimerTcpConnect would be reviewed when calls are timing out during setup, since an overly aggressive or slack timer can cause premature call teardown or excessive TCP connect delays. sonusH323SigTimerEstablish ties these timers together to gauge overall call-establishment latency tolerance.
What Can Be Monitored
- H.225/H.245 port IP and binding
- signaling timer values (T301/T303/T310)
- TCP connect timeout
- call establishment timer
- shelf/slot assignment of signaling ports
