What Is SM10-R2-MIB?
SM10-R2-MIB is a vendor MIB for NetApp/Engenio E-Series storage arrays (SM10 R2 storage module shelves), used within the SANtricity/Storage Manager product line. It exposes data about drive shelf configuration, drive inventory, and hardware component health for the storage array's expansion modules. The MIB is squarely aimed at monitoring hardware status: it reports the presence and operational state of drives, shelf modules, and related storage hardware so an administrator can detect a failed or degraded component before data loss occurs. As a proprietary enterprise-numbered MIB it stands alone and is not layered on other standard MIBs beyond the base SNMP framework. It is typically deployed in data-center environments running NetApp E-Series or Engenio-branded SAN storage, polled by storage-management or NMS platforms to keep tabs on array health, typically after an SM10-R2-MIB download to load its objects into that management platform.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SM10-R2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NetApp/Engenio E-Series storage array
- SM10 storage shelf/module
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll shelf and drive status objects (grounded in the module's engenio-information-technologies enterprise branch) to confirm every drive slot in an SM10 R2 shelf reports a normal operational state. A drive reporting a failed or degraded status, or a shelf module going offline, would signal impending data redundancy loss and prompt a service call. Because sample objects here are largely location/branch identifiers (wichita, ftcollins, cosprings, austin, tucson) rather than full runtime tables, this MIB's exact data objects are only partially represented and the description is inferred from its role as a companion to the SM10 R3 module.
What Can Be Monitored
- drive shelf status
- drive presence/inventory
- hardware module health
- storage enclosure state
